Match Report - 6th January 2019

6 Jan 2019 by Stacey Thomas

Happy New Year everyone, first game of the year for Ely Valley and our first match report.

First up we had Ely Valley v’s Ely Valley.

The Ospreys faced The Eagles first thing this morning in two fiercely competitive derby matches.

Ely Valley Hawks vs Tonyrefail

Our first game of 2019 started with a local derby against Tonyrefail.

The game started in the same way it finished, with the hawks dominating possession and field position throughout. A new formation today meant that it took a bit of getting used too but when we got into our stride we looked a very strong team.

The first half of the first game saw a goal from Captain Marvel Cai and another from Mason, outing the Hawks in the lead 2-0 at half time - although it should have been more like 8-0!

The second half started exactly like the first with the hawks playing some nice football and Mason grabbing another well worked team goal. The final score ended up at 3-0 but the score line certainly did not represent the story of the game.

Stand out performances today from the first game for Gabe, Kalen and Caden at the back, the midfield quartet of Jay, Josh, Cai & Cavan and the two strikers Mason and Kian.

The second game was exactly like the first with the hawks totally dominating all over the Park with cai smashing home twice early in the first half to give the hawks the lead.

Josh Evans capped off a superb performance today with a great cool finish in the first half.

The second half saw mason smash home another and jay pier in a header from a corner! It also saw our fox in the box back in the scoresheet with another cool finish well done macey! Big performances in this March coming from Aaron and George at the back, Kyla the beast in midfield and Dylan and macey working together well upfront! The game finished 6-2 to the hawks.

A great first game back - on to next week now hawksters πŸ‘πŸΌ

Ely Valley Falcons v Trebanog

Falcons first game of 2019 was against Trebanog facing off against our ex coach and good friend Mr Anthony Hares.

First Game,
From the first whistle the it was plain to see that there were two very good footballing sides battling it out. Both teams were attempting to play football as it should be played, looking to play the ball with intricate flicks and 1-2's happening all over the field. The Falcons pressure was met and returned in a stunning pound for pound fight to the death. Trebanog scored first giving the opposition the upper hand, however, after sustaining a barrage of attacks the Falcons steadied themselves, earning themselves a corner taken by Sonny with Harri pouncing an scoring the equaliser. Second half followed in much the same vein, in s sintilating game. A nice pass by Max fed Callum in behind Trebanog' s defence Goal 2:1. Trebanog pressed, but could find on equaslier until the final 2 minutes of the goal, Goal Trebanog!
Falcons 2 : 2 Trebanog
Goals, Callum 1, Harri 1

Second Game,
After a little talk with the team, the second game surely couldn't follow in the same vein, but oh boy yes it DID. The second game was full of style, pressure and desire. each team fairly taking chunks out of one another, in an end to end, cat and mouse game... Trebanog 1: 0 Falcons, Falcons 2: Trebanog 1, Trebanog 3: Falcons 3. The game was a must watch with parents, players, coaches awaiting on bated breath not knowing which way the game was going to sway, could have easily been The Falcons after Aiobhe's long range shot drifted ever so slightly wide... Cobie was like a one man immovable wall at points, but where the wall failed Alex and Finley were there working as hard as we have seen them, and then there was Kailem, reading the game as good as it can be!Β  Our GIRLS stepped upto the midfield plate today working had, making tackles and creating opportunities, and of course Calan who has been hugely missed lately. Unfortunately though Trebanog scored the winning goal with only 3 minutes left on the clock!!
Falcons 3: 4 Trebanog
Goals: Harri, Calan, Finley and Elis

our Squad is developing every game, keep going Falcons!

Eagles v ospreys

⚽⚽Match Report ⚽⚽Eagles Vs Ospreys

A massive thank you to The magical 7 who turned up today and played al 4 games!!
Well done

Oliver - cool in the goal, had a stint in the field to bag his first goal.
Star - a real pocket rocket with no fear, saved quite a few shouts with her tackles.
Jay - played in every position today including goal keeper, a top effort and good attitude!!
Alfie L - Class this boy, nice to see him in the midfield passing and beating defenders, again good attitude to have a really strong performance in goals.
Xavier - similar to Alfie covered loads of the pitch and scored some fantastic goals!!
Joel - yet again a real battler in the midfield, physicality caused Ospreys some problems, a super 5 goals to round off a solid day.
Austin - not much ball to play with today, but made up by covering back in the midfield and defence, good attitude in testing times!!

Hard to pick a man of the match as all worked their socks off, but it’s Oliver for scoring his first goal πŸ‘

We started off in top gear today which is not usually like us and scored 2 quick goals through Joel, πŸ˜€ setting the pace and playing some nice football. Unfortunately we got caught to many times in the void between the defenders and midfield and lost the first game 5-2.
Second game was similar in many ways with us getting caught on the counter and perhaps not passing the ball thus getting tired by running instead of letting the ball doing the work 😒, on a positive for the game great team spirit and work to give Xavier an opportunity to score a cracking goal! Well done!
Lost 5-1.
The third game the team battled hard but fatigue set in and we were edged out 2-1 with another cracking strike by Xavier for the Eagles only score. Lowri Moyle from the Ospreys stepped up and helped us for part of the 3rd game and all the 4th giving us a chance to start rotating the players so they could recover.
Fourth game the team ignited into life and were like crazy Ants covering the whole pitch. Oliver earned a cool Β£20 from his dad πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ scoring his first goal, Xavier picked up another and Joel bagged 3.
Big thanks to Lowri for helping us out, class defender with bags of talent!
Doughnut of the day!!!Sam for sleeping late πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ˜ poor Harrison πŸ˜†

Well Done to all teams playing today. πŸ‘πŸΌ
