Match Report - Sunday 27th January

27 Jan 2019 by Stacey Thomas

Short report this week, due to the weather both the Hawks and the Falcons games were called off.

Ely Valley Eagles v Llwynypia

Game 1
Eagles 5 Llwynypia 3
Game 2
Eagles 4 Llwynypia 5

Overall score Eagles 9 Llwynypia 8

The Eagles were fast out of the traps and scored goals through Xavier, Alfie L and Austin 2 in the early stages playing some good passing football. With the weather still dry and some sun in the sky the Eagles put a fine piece of play together for Xavier to pick up a second finishing the first game well on top and the much better side. 5-3 😁.

Game 2 saw the coaches make a number of changes and with the Arctic weather upon us we were 4 goals down in the early stages. It was looking bleak and and we were sure for a heavy defeat! We struggled on the heavy, boggy, wet and slow grass pitch to get the shots in on the opposition.
But then Xavier burst into life and scored a screamer! The best goal of the game followed this, nice interplay between Alfie L and Joel to pull back another. Alfie L then went savage and netted 2 amazingly struck shots! All a little too late with Llwynypia edging is out with a late goal. 5-4 ☹️

Everyone player was outstanding today in the freezing weather showing a good attitude!!

Players that really shone for me today were Star and Alfie Locke with Alfie L taking the Man of the Match award!

Ospreys v Tonyrefail u9s

The Ospreys faced an inform Tonyrefail team and put up a tremendous battle. A great local derby with good fight, spirit and determination from both teams.

A special mention to Finley Evans for his great back heel goal πŸ‘πŸΌ

Also, a thank you to our old coach Adam Mings for stepping in to help out today πŸ‘πŸΌ

Kestrels v Treorchy

Firstly an apology from the coaches today guys, we know it might have seemed like a shambles and to be fair it was but only due to the lack of numbers that turned up from Treorchy. To be fair I felt sorry for their coach who had been let down bad by his players/parents.

There was very little game time today but I did see glimpses of our normal selves throughout.

It’s hard to play or get any sort of consistency when the opposition changes so much.

Despite the tough conditions though we still played quite well and did what we normally do.

Special mentions today go out to Rueben and Tylo who picked up the match balls for their hat tricks! We want a photo on here later please with them sleeping with the match balls!!!

Very well done today to Ethan, Nate, Tylo and Jonny Mitchell on their player of the match awards. Look after that trophy Jonny I know what your like!!!!! 🀣🀣🀣

Well Done Ely Valley πŸ’šβš½οΈ
