The reports from this weeks matches.
The Kestrels and The Ospreys had a well deserved rest day!
First up, on the early slot was the Hawks.
Ely valley hawks vs porth blues.
After a few sundays off due to the weather the hawks got back at it today in fine fashion.
With Macey and Gabe missing due to illness other players had to step in to positions that they never normally play.
The first game started really well for the hawks with some great pressure from the front three putting the porth defenders under immense pressure.
Mason, Kian and Charlie led from the front with a very energetic display up front pressurising the porth defence into mistake after mistake.
The midfield trio of cai, Cavan and josh ran the show from the middle of the park! They dominated the middle of the field moving the ball quickly and winning all the 50/50 battles.
Caden and George stood solid at the back and had their best performance as a pair today than they have had for a while.
Jay stepped in goal for us today and was superb. Considering he was sporting an ankle injury and heโs a midfielder he made some great saves and got the ball out well from the back.
The breakthrough came in the first half when Charlieโs pace caused havoc and allowed him to smash in from 15 yards!
Porth snatched an equaliser just before half time when they caught us napping and nipped in for a breakaway goal!
The second half was unbelievable with the hawks peppering the porth goal hitting the cross bar and post on numerous occasions. When we did get the shots on target the porth keeper had a great game and saved everything today fair play!
The first game finished 1-1.
The second game started in the same vein as the first finished with the hawks in the attack and within one minute Dylan popped up with his usual type of goal to make it 1-0 to the hawks.
Kalen and Aaron came into the defence making some great interceptions and tackles kepping is on the front foot throughout. Porth once again pulled us back and equalised form a corner.
A flurry of goals then followed from cai, mason and another from Dylan after some great work on the wing from our gazelle Kyla!
She was a pleasure to watch flying up the wing today!!
The second half started the same but the a couple of lapses in concentration let porth in for a goal making it 4-2.
Charlie then sealed the win with a run from the half way line after a great through ball from our keeper jay!! 5-2.
Porth did pull one back at the end making the final result 5-3.
Well done today on POTM Jay, George and Kyla ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ
Well done hawksters
Ely Valley Eagles v Ton & Gelli
Pleasing to see we had 14 players today and could put 2 sides out to give everyone a game.
The first game was well contested and Ely Valley played some nice football to keep the score level until the late stages where we leaked a few late on.
The second game saw Kayden make his debut in midfield and looked solid, had some nice touches and tackled well. Taking advantage of wind Ely Valley battled hard and were rewarded with a cheeky goal for Joel. Good game and edged out by a couple of goals by Ton & Gelli.
Third game not only were facing a well drilled side but a monstrous wind which saw most of the game being played in our goal area. Inevitably we leaked a few goals but managed to get a few breaks with Joel missing a chance late on.
Game 4 was very much the same as the third with us struggling to exit. Star made numerous tackles to keep the score down.
Good attitude by the players to dig in whilst not seeing a great deal of ball in attack, well done!!
Ely Valley Falcons v Treherbert
The Falcons visited the Baltic Highlands of Treherbert today, after a 3 week rest due to game cancellations. Treherbert, as always booked in the rain, hail, hurricane force winds, and sub zero temperatures for the hotly contested game, thanks guys!
First Game,
The highlanders (Treherbert) came flying out of the blocks quickly expressing their physicality, showing their strength and determination in a very hard first 10 minutes, forcing consecutive corners which were confidently dealt with by the Falcons Back 3. After weathering the storm the Falcons started playing football as the Falcons can, playing out from the back, quick 1-2โs, stretching the field and making Treherbert work hard. Phase after phase went on as the Falcons pressed and prodded looking for an opening, which was quickly exploited by Sonny John 1:0! Over confidence resulting in a couple of chances for Treherbert which were expertly dealt with by Ben Davies showing his athletic ability as GK. Falcons quickly reset composed resulting in Goals from Harri coming from Midfield and Ieuan stepping up from Defence, with the call to the Coach โThatโs 3, nowโ is he making a point, what is the point, what is the coach going to do... who knows!
Game Finished
Falcons 3: 1 Treherbert
Second Game,
Once again the highlanders came out flying, not phasing the changed Falcons team, they knew what to expect.. Treherbert quickly took the lead though as the Falcons lost their shape at the back. Once again the Falcons put the ball down and started playing, once this happend opportunities started happening with a goal from Finley making it 2:1, could have been 2:2, 2:3, 2:4 if only we could have hit the target. Second half came and with a couple of subtle positional changes resulting in Connor marauding from midfield into the opposition area scoring a sweet goal and his first in 1 and an half years. Treherbert scored putting themselves back in the led only to have the lead cancelled out with a wonderful solo goal by our dribbling magician Sonny John, weaving his way through what must have been 6 players! Treherbert had the final say scoring from a poorly defended free kick, from which the ref blew up with 3 minutes on the clock, full time!!! There is no way we should have lost this game, we just need to take more of our opportunities!
Game Finished
Falcons 3: 4 Treherbert
Awesome Falcons
Well Done to all teams today ๐๐ผ โฝ๏ธ ๐
